Fall of Paul

You're awesome, so you're probably already aware that Episode 3 of Fall of Paul is available on YouTube for your viewing pleasure (if you accidentally missed any of the episodes, watch them all here)... but what you may have missed is that I am (sorta) in the movie! I needlefelted a doll for the props department, which (practically) makes me a movie star!

Here's a terrible picture that I took of the doll while it was still in the process of being made. He's bald in this picture. He eventually got some reddish brown hair on top, but most of the rest stayed the same. He's a little imperfect, which is by design. He was intended to look 'handmade' which was easy to do (because he IS handmade!).

It was a fun project and it was great to be involved with the Fall of Paul team on this!

Also: keep an eye out for episode 4 in a couple of weeks... featuring the dudes from The Taint, Ryan's band, who has been writing some of the music for the show! Including Ryan as a crab. Who knew his Hollywood break-through would be as a crustacean?!

chilling and thrilling - more Haunted Mansion crafts!

I've been busy lately making Haunted Mansion crafts. I arranged two craft swaps through Craftster, so I made two more sets of hitchhiking ghosts. One was a repeat of the previous set (in the three individual frames) and the other was custom created to fit inside a 4x6" frame (below).

I've also created a needle felted version of Madame Leota, floating in her crystal ball. This was really fun to make! Leota's tiny head is about 1" tall and is fully detailed with itsy bitsy eyelashes and eyebrows. I love the miniature aspect of it! Best part: it can be yours! Now posted for sale in my etsy shop!

Two for Tuesday

How excited was I today to see that not only was there a new Wondermark comic (Tuesdays and Fridays!) but the contest winners were also announced... and I was one of them! TOOT! Oh, sorry. That was just my horn going off again.

As second prize winner I will receive a steady helping of head gigantisizer, the scorn of all my friends, a heaping portion of Feeling Awesome, and general malaise. But those aren't the contest prizes, just what I have earned by being a braggart. From the contest itself, I shall be blessed with a framed print! Linkage on the Wondermark site! A personalized piece of original art!!! An inscribed copy of the book Beards of our Forefathers, and a special MYSTERY BOOK as well!!! If it's not too bold, I am hoping that the mystery book isn't a Sue Grafton. All those alphabetical ways to kill people make me dyslexic. And murderous.
All of the contest entries that were posted were FANTASTIC and I encourage you to visit them all and congratulate all of the winners (toot!) on their excellent work. And THANK YOU to Dave at Wondermark for a fun contest!

needle felting madness

I made the hippo from it's a small world tonight. Because I have always loved that hippo. And I am a dork.

More about the Presidents

I posted my needle felted presidents on Craftster and they're getting a lot of good responses. Hey, maybe I should needle felt historical figures for a living!
