why naps are bad

Last weekend's convention shenanigans left me roundly wiped out. As soon as work was done yesterday, I immediately went into Super Lazy Mode (which is easier than it sounds). I watched 1/2 of a movie before yawning got the best of me and Ryan suggested a nap. YES! Just the thing! So at 7:30 I stretched out in my gigantic bed with my book because I have to know how it ends and I read for about an hour before my eyelids get heavy. I turned out the light and Ryan came in to say that he'd wake me up in an hour or so, so that I didn't sleep all night. Great!

So then it's 4:45am and Ryan's coming to bed and I'm all WTF? He said "you were sleeping too soundly, I couldn't bring myself to wake you up." which is total b.s. and then he slipped into bed and zonked out immediately. Whereas, just having slept for 8 hours I was wide awake. I made my rounds, administering medicine to cats and taking a long bath and... it was still only 6am. Great. So I went grocery shopping for a few things and then put them away slowly and quietly. Gave the furry creatures some breakfast, ate a little something myself and then it was... 7:30am. ARG!

I ended up reading for another hour or so before forcing myself back to sleep, where I dreamed of playing a version of office olympics inside a grocery store... where I had to punt-kick a lemon (?) that was inspired by "The Gang Gets Invincible" episode [watch it on hulu] of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. All pretty random crap.

But there's another Sunny tie-in, when Dennis says: "I hate listening to people's dreams. It is like flipping through a stack of photographs. If I'm not in any of them and nobody is having sex, I just don't care."

So, sorry about that. I only managed to sleep for another hour and since then I have felt totally thrown off. What a great waste of a Friday night.

It sounds like you needed the sleep though. I hate when my sleep/awake pattern gets thrown though.
