This exhibition was inspired by the work of Alexandra J. Walters. Curator Drucilla Pettibone (yours truly) has worked with both established and emerging fiber artists to put together this group exhibition which will showcase new work that explores issues of war and peace, gender and sexuality.
I took the eagle theme for my first piece of Sam the Eagle from the Muppet Show. Mostly satin stitch except the 'feathers' around his neck, which are a long-short stitch.
I also re-created the Hot Sea Men cross stitch (this is an old picture, but I used the same pattern), which relates to the military and sexuality, but mostly it's just a naughty joke in a tiny stitchery piece based on an Arrested Development quote.
Unfortunately, I can't make it to the show myself, but I hope that some of you can make it out! Go! Support art! Buy stuff! Be awesome!
